Project Playground 2.0 focuses on the development of a unique and Radically Inclusive playground within the confines of a historic park, home to earthworks of the ancient Hopewell culture in the Hilltop neighborhood. The aim is to cultivate a vibrant communal space that harmoniously integrates recreation, inclusivity, and cultural education, a rare blend in today's urban landscapes.
HINA is intent on transcending conventional playground designs. Our vision is a playground that not only meets ADA compliance but exceeds it, embodying the concept of Radical Inclusivity. We want to ensure that every child, irrespective of their physical abilities, finds a welcoming, engaging, and stimulating play environment. Simultaneously, the playground's integration with the Hopewell culture earthworks offers a unique opportunity to infuse play with cultural awareness. This not only preserves and highlights the rich history of the area, but also fosters a sense of communal pride and identity.
By rebuilding a new playground, we aim to restore Mound Park to a place of gathering for all ages and abilities, a place where our community will return.
